An exploration of Seamus Heaney’s famous ‘bog poems’, from his collections Wintering Out (1972) and North (1975)
This event has now passed.
Explore Seamus Heaney’s famous ‘bog poems’, from his collections Wintering Out (1972) and North (1975), published fifty years ago this year.
Stephen Sexton will lead us in a discussion of poems including 'Bogland’, ‘The Tollund Man’, ‘Bog Queen’, ‘Punishment’ and ‘The Grauballe Man’. We'll consider the challenges, ethics and aesthetics of writing about such archaeological finds. This workshop aims to prepare and inspire attendees before they put pen to paper to produce their own reflections on the Iron Age Ballymacombs More Woman, who was discovered near Bellaghy in 2023.
