Curator Tour - 12:00 to 12:45

Explore our numismatic collections and the scientific, artistic, social, cultural, and political value that they hold in this fascinating curator tour. Discover some of the best Irish coinage in the world, as well as our wider currency collections, tokens and medals.

Please meet at 11:50 in Ulster Museum's atrium for the curator tour.

Numismatic Talks - 14:00 to 17:00

There’ll be four informative talks across the day, covering different aspects of Irish coinage. From research into the objects and documents, the role of coins as an impartial witness to the centuries-long social unrest in Ireland, to the pleasure of collecting and studying Irish coins as a hobby!

See the four scheduled talk titles below:

  • 14:20 to 15:00 - David Guest (Classical Numismatic Group),  ‘Irish Treasures from the Cope Collection’
  • 15:20 to 15:40 - Oisín Mac Conamhna, ‘The Suns and Roses Coinage of Drogheda: a Die Study and Corpus’
