North-South 25

An exhibition celebrating the work of different bodies and their North/South cooperation across the island of Ireland.

The Belfast/Good Friday Agreement has three parts or 'strands'. Each of the strands created new institutions and relationships between people and governments here.

North/South Cooperation Bodies were established 25 years ago. This exhibition celebrates the work of these 'Strand 2' bodies, who have led North/South cooperation across the island of Ireland.

North/South 25 is part of a wider programme at the Ulster Museum to make 25 years since the signing of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement.

This exhibition will take place in Ulster Museum Lecture Theatre from 24th January 2024 to 15th January 2025

Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)

The Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) manages EU funding programmes, promoting peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland. The past 25 years have seen an investment of €3.3 billion in projects which have touched the lives of over 2 million citizens; taking risks for peace, participants have forged new relationships and built trust.

Ulster Scots Agency

The Ulster-Scots Agency’s vision is for the vibrant identity and global impact of the Ulster-Scots community to be recognised, respected and embraced at home and abroad.

Waterways Ireland

Waterways Ireland manages, maintains, restores, develops and promotes over 1200km of Ireland and Northern Ireland’s inland navigable waterways principally for recreational purposes. Waterways Ireland manages assets valued at €1.5b and contributes approximately €560m in economic, societal and environmental value annually.

Tourism Ireland

Tourism Ireland is responsible for marketing the island of Ireland overseas as a compelling holiday destination. Its principal objectives are to increase tourism to the island of Ireland and to support Northern Ireland to realise its tourism potential. It operates in 21 markets around the globe and rolls out world-class marketing campaigns for the island of Ireland.

Foras na Gaeilge

To bring that vision to life, the organisation has made it their mission to provide leadership, advice, and support that maximises export growth opportunities through greater crossborder collaboration, innovation, entrepreneurship, and trade.

Loughs Agency

Loughs Agency is an agency of the Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission, established as one of the North South Implementation Bodies under the Good Friday Agreement. They aim to provide sustainable, social, economic and environmental benefits through the effective conservation, management, promotion and development of the fisheries and marine resources of the Foyle and Carlingford Areas.

Safefood

safefood is the all-island body responsible for promoting food safety, nutrition, and healthy eating. For 25 years, we’ve put the public and those who produce food at the heart of our awareness campaigns and provide practical advice and support to teach lifelong skills in food and health. Our independent research increases scientific knowledge across the island and helps people make better food choices.
