15th June: Day One 'Damselflies' 

During day one you'll learn about the taxonomy and how to identify the variety of species of Damselflies that occur on the Brackagh Bog site. To start the day Mr Robert Thompson will introduce you to the species found in Ireland. You will then look at features used to identify them and what resources are available to help. After the Introduction, you'll head out and visit the nearby Brackagh Bog to find species to identify.

27th July: Day Two 'Dragonflies' 

During day two you'll learn about the taxonomy and how to identify the variety of species of Dragonflies that occur on the Brackagh Bog site. Pleas note, it is recommended you attend both day one and day two to get the full experience, however if you wish to attend just one of the days you can do so.

  • This course is open to adults with an interest in Odonata biodiversity and recording.
  • All levels of species identification experience are welcome.
  • Suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor fieldwork is essential. Bring along your net if you have one.
  • Please bring a packed lunch as we will be out in the field most of the day.
