Dive into the Spanish Armada
Book NowTreasure recovered from the sunken galleass La Girona is a starting point to investigate the context and background of the launch of the 1588 Spanish Armada. We will analyse key events, discuss the lives of those on board and address the legacy of the failed invasion. This is an active workshop, drawing on pupil’s existing knowledge of the period and introducing new perspectives inspired by our museum collections. Insights into marine archaeology serve as an inspirational introduction to a self-guided visit to the Spanish Armada gallery after the workshop, where students can view recovered treasures.
