voices of '74

In 2024, Nottingham Trent University with National Museums NI conducted interviews with individuals who lived through the turbulent period of the 1970s. This oral history project offered a platform for individuals from diverse backgrounds to share their stories with the aim of fostering understanding, promoting healing, and ensuring that the lessons of the past are not forgotten.

'The intention was to gather a variety of perspectives and collect memories, not to provide answers.'

Professor of Contemporary European History and Memory Studies, Nottingham Trent University

REVIEWS

“Beyond being physical spaces, our museums and galleries also exist in the digital realm. Few have embraced the internet and its possibilities as well as the Ulster Museum. A visitor to their website will encounter the oral history project Voices of ’74, interviewing those who lived through that turbulent and dramatic year.”
